Overview
The Master of Science in Kinesiology at Lakehead University is offered in two formats: a thesis-based stream and a course-based stream, with an optional specialization in Gerontology. The thesis-based option uses a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human performance from a scientific perspective across eight content areas within the discipline, culminating in an original research thesis. The course-based option is intended for students pursuing a more applied, evidence-based pathway and is delivered through a combination of online and on-campus courses. Admission to either stream requires a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with at least second-class standing (B). Applications are encouraged by February 1 for the Fall intake. Graduates of the program pursue further doctoral study or careers in areas such as clinical exercise physiology, sport science, rehabilitation, and health and human performance research and practice.
