Overview
Lakehead University's MA in Social Justice Studies is an interdisciplinary program that prepares students to work, research, and advocate for a more socially just society grounded in equality, solidarity, and human rights. Students choose from four program streams: a coursework-based degree of four full-course equivalents, or a practicum, creative project, or research project completed in place of the final full-course equivalent, subject to approval by the Social Justice Studies Committee. Admission requires a four-year bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a recognized university, college, or institute, with at least second-class, upper-division standing, equivalent to a B average. The program admits students for the Fall semester, with applicants encouraged to apply by February 1. Graduates are equipped for further graduate study or careers in research, advocacy, and community or policy work connected to social justice.
