Trades - Apprenticeship in Carpenter

The Carpenter apprenticeship program leads to an Alberta Journeyperson Certificate through four eight-week classroom training periods, each paired with a minimum of 1,560 hours of on-the-job training with a sponsoring employer. Coursework covers residential, commercial, and institutional construction, including reading blueprints, selecting and cutting materials, joining components with various fasteners, and meeting building code quality standards. Classroom instruction takes place at Lakeland College's Vermilion campus, while practical training occurs on job sites with employer sponsors. Applicants must secure employment with a sponsoring employer who is a journeyperson, or who employs a journeyperson, in the carpentry trade before beginning the apprenticeship.
