Trades - Apprenticeship in Carpenter Apprenticeship

The Carpenter apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with technical theory delivered through the Competency-Based Apprenticeship Training method, leading to Journeyman certification over four years. Students learn blueprint reading, material calculation and selection, and tool use, with coursework covering building layout, concrete work, estimating and plans, foundation work, hand and power tools, and residential roofing. Apprentices complete eight weeks of classroom training each year in addition to on-the-job work experience, with some flexibility to complete modules at an individual pace. The programme begins in late August. It is not currently open to international students, and applicants apply for a placement through Alberta's MyTradesecrets apprenticeship and industry training system.
