Program details
Overview
Laurentian University's French as a Second Language program is designed for students whose first language is not French but who wish to become fluent speakers and writers. The program provides comprehensive instruction in the French language alongside study of francophone literature, culture, and linguistics, in small classes that emphasize an interactive learning approach. Students actively practise French through conversation with peers, instructors, and members of the local community. The credential is a Bachelor of Arts with a Specialization in French as a Second Language, offered as a four-year or three-year program of full-time study on campus. A placement test is required before students begin the program, to determine their starting level of French.
