Overview
History at Laurentian University is a Bachelor of Arts program available as a 120-credit Honours degree or a 90-credit General degree. The program teaches students to think and research like historians, developing skills in historical methods, critical analysis, and evidence-based writing. Coursework is organized into two streams: North American history, including the history of Canada, and European history. The program is delivered both on campus and online, with some courses offered in hybrid format. Students examine political, social, cultural, and economic developments across different time periods and regions, building transferable research, writing, and analytical skills. The program can be combined with a minor or second major in another discipline. Graduates pursue careers and further study in fields such as education, law, public policy, archives and museums, journalism, and public service.
