Program details
Overview
Sociology at Laurentian University is a Bachelor of Arts program that studies society's origins, development, organization, networks, and institutions. It is offered as a four-year specialization, major, or honours track requiring 120 credits, or as a three-year general degree requiring 90 credits, with concentration and minor options that can be added to another program. Coursework builds knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative social research methods, giving students a grounding in how sociological data is collected, analyzed, and interpreted. Students may also complete an optional certificate alongside the degree, choosing between Social Research Methods and Family Life Studies and Human Sexuality, to focus their study of social institutions and relationships further. The specialization, major, and general formats are delivered on campus, while the concentration and minor options can be completed online.
