Police Cadet Training is a certificate program, run over 22 to 24 weeks, that prepares newly hired police officers for frontline policing work before they begin patrol duties alongside a field training officer. The program was developed in partnership with police services across southern Alberta and delivers training for multiple sponsoring agencies, including the Lethbridge Police Service, Taber Police Service, and Blood Tribe Police Service. Admission is available only to candidates already hired or sponsored by a participating police service, and applicants must complete agency pre-screening covering fitness, vision and hearing, cognitive and communications testing, a criminal record check, a background investigation, and a psychological assessment. Tuition is paid by the sponsoring agency rather than by the student. Graduates receive a Certificate in Police Cadet Training and 42 credits toward the Criminal Justice - Policing diploma. The program is not available to international students.
