Trades - Apprenticeship in Electrician Apprenticeship

The Electrician Apprenticeship is a four-year Red Seal trade program following Alberta's Competency Based Apprenticeship Training model. Apprentices complete between eight and ten weeks of on-campus instruction each year at Lethbridge Polytechnic, spending the remainder of the year working on the job with an experienced electrician. Coursework covers reading mechanical drawings and electrical codes, and building and testing safe electrical circuits, progressing through four levels of technical and practical training. Class sizes are capped at a maximum of 16 students per intake. Delivery is face-to-face on campus, with some blended and hyflex components; a separate Electrician Apprenticeship - Alternate Delivery program exists for apprentices who need a distance-learning route. Apprentices must be registered with an Alberta employer to progress through the program. On completing all four years and passing the Red Seal interprovincial examination, graduates receive certified Journeyman papers. The program is not open to international students, since it requires concurrent employment with an Alberta-registered training employer.
