This four-year apprenticeship trains students in the assembly of pipe and fittings, soldering, threading, solvent welding, and grooving piping, as well as servicing furnaces and boilers. Coursework covers the design, installation, and servicing of plumbing systems for water, drainage, heating, cooling, and medical gas applications. Training combines employer-based on-the-job work with annual technical training at the college, with study periods of approximately two months each year over four years. Admission requires first securing employment with an employer willing to sponsor the apprenticeship, then completing an Apprenticeship Application and Contract through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training system.
