Overview

This diploma program at New Brunswick Community College is achievable within two academic years of full-time study, delivered in blended format at the Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John campuses starting September 2026. In the first year, students build skills across a variety of programming languages and learn the tools and methods used in enterprise software environments. The second year centres on capstone projects and work-integrated learning, which may take the form of an employer-hosted field placement, an applied research project, or an entrepreneurial venture. Curriculum areas include object-oriented programming, web development, database design and software engineering methodologies, with technical coverage of JavaScript, C#, Java, SQL, HTML and CSS, and cloud foundations through AWS. The program targets learners seeking careers in software development and states an employment rate of more than 90 percent among graduates, who move into roles such as application developer, software engineer or systems developer across a range of industries. It suits students who want broad, hands-on programming training paired with a flexible, project-based final year rather than a narrowly specialized software track.
