Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (Optional Co-op) is a diploma in Civil Engineering & Construction programme taught at New Brunswick Community College in Fredericton, Canada. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered in a hybrid format. Tuition for international students is CAD 10,260 per year (CAD 3,666 per year for local students).
This diploma program at New Brunswick Community College runs two years of full-time study, delivered in blended format at the Moncton and Saint John campuses, with Saint John offered every other year. A January 2027 start option compresses study into four consecutive 15-week terms but does not include the option for co-op placements available in the standard intake. The first year covers engineering science, materials technology, surveying and drafting, while the second year focuses on highway engineering, water and sanitary systems, fluid mechanics and environmental planning, preparing students to design highway, transportation and municipal systems. Instruction combines lectures with extensive hands-on activities and individual or team projects, including a required one-week surveying fieldwork course after the second term and a senior technical capstone project. Applicants who already hold a Certificate in Civil Engineering Technician or an equivalent credential may qualify for advanced placement. The program suits students aiming for infrastructure design and construction roles who want the option of a co-op work term as part of their studies, alongside a strong hands-on, project-based curriculum.
