Program details
Overview
Hospital Unit Clerk is an accelerated 16-week certificate at NorQuest College that prepares students for administrative roles in hospital nursing units. The single-term program develops skills in medical terminology, processing medical orders, communication, administrative procedures, and computer applications specific to healthcare environments. It is offered in blended, online real-time, and online anytime formats, on a full-time or part-time basis, with a rural intake available for learners located more than 50 kilometres outside Edmonton. Students complete 10 required courses and 150 hours of work experience through a practicum, which may include day, evening, or night shifts on any day of the week. The program uses freely available learning materials as a Zero Textbook Cost program and is not open to international students. Graduates are prepared for entry-level unit clerk roles supporting nursing staff in hospital settings.
