Overview
Content Creator is a certificate program at NorQuest College designed for social media and digital content production, combining creative practice with business skills. Delivered over two terms (one year) plus a 150-hour work-integrated learning placement in the second term, the program covers storytelling, branding, photography, videography, analytics, and campaign strategy for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Students build a professional portfolio through applied projects and complete a professional interview as part of their work-integrated learning component. The curriculum blends technical production skills with an understanding of audience engagement, brand voice, and content performance metrics, preparing graduates for roles in social media management, digital marketing, and freelance content creation. The program does not qualify for a post-graduate work permit in Canada as of June 24, 2025, though it remains open to students on a study permit. It is one of the first Alberta post-secondary credentials created specifically for social media and digital content creators.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet a Language Arts requirement (50% in English Language Arts 20-1, 60% in English Language Arts 20-2, or equivalent ESLG coursework) and a Mathematics requirement (65% in Mathematics 10-C or equivalent), or complete NorQuest's free academic assessment. Admission to the work-integrated learning term also requires submission of a portfolio and completion of a professional interview.
