Cert in Educational Assistant

Educational Assistant is a two-term certificate at NorQuest College that prepares students to work in a supportive classroom role, helping students with diverse needs build confidence and reach their potential. Coursework covers child and youth development, classroom management, and strategies for adapting instruction in inclusive learning environments. Students complete 200 hours of work experience through field placements plus a 45-hour practicum seminar, applying classroom learning directly in school settings. A Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, along with an Intervention Record Check, must be completed within six months of the field experience start date. Graduates are prepared for roles supporting classroom teachers and working directly with students who have diverse learning, behavioural, or physical needs. The program qualifies for a post-graduate work permit in Canada, but is not currently open to international students.
