Overview
Chemical Engineering Technology is a two-year diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology covering industrial processes and the application of science and mathematics to converting raw materials into products, with additional coverage of emissions and energy transition topics. Students use computer simulation and software packages alongside hands-on labs to gain practical operating skills for equipment such as pumps, compressors and distillation towers, preparing them for roles in the energy and processing industries. The program is delivered in person on NAIT's main campus with a Fall intake. Students who take on field placements may need industry certificates such as CPR/Standard First Aid, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, H2S Alive, Common Safety Orientation and WHMIS, obtainable through NAIT Continuing Education or approved industry providers, and a driver's license is recommended for most jobs in the field.
