Materials Engineering Technology is a two-year, four-semester diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology that trains students to test, analyze and select engineering materials. Lab and lecture coursework covers non-destructive and destructive testing techniques such as radiography, ultrasonic, eddy current, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and vibration analysis, along with welding metallurgy, machining, casting, forging, metal-forming and metallography. The curriculum is developed with industry partners so students gain hands-on experience alongside theoretical knowledge. Graduates work on engineering teams as experts in material selection and failure analysis, advising on asset integrity inspection and weld inspection across manufacturing and construction sectors. At the time of review the program page showed it was not accepting new applications. It suits students interested in materials science, quality assurance and manufacturing engineering support roles.
