This certificate prepares students to support K-12 students alongside classroom teachers in inclusive educational settings. It is delivered through online synchronous, online self-paced, blended, or on-campus formats, depending on intake, and spans eight required courses. Students can complete the program full-time in four to five months or part-time over about eleven months, and the sequence includes a six-week supervised practicum in a school setting, which the page lists as 160 hours in its FAQ and 180 hours in the intake notes. Course content covers school organization and classroom support, child development, behaviour support strategies, approaches for learners with diverse and complex needs, inclusive and culturally responsive practice, trauma-informed approaches, individualized education plans, assistive and instructional technology, and observation and documentation practices, alongside professional and ethical standards for the role. Admission requires B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent (or being at least 19 and out of secondary school for a year), English 12 at a minimum of 60 percent, and a clear criminal record check.
