Overview

The Bachelor of Arts, General is a three-year degree delivered by Portage College in partnership with Athabasca University, covering two broad areas of study: humanities and social sciences. Students complete coursework through a combination of in-person, online and hybrid multi-access learning, with courses split between Portage College and Athabasca University. The program suits students who want breadth across arts disciplines rather than a single-subject major. Intakes are offered in fall, winter and spring each year, with corresponding application deadlines in August, December and April. Admission from high school requires a minimum 60% average with no mark below 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 and four other Grade 12-level courses. Mature applicants aged 19 or older who have been out of high school for at least one year qualify under the same average. International applicants are assessed on transcripts and may be required to complete a Grade 12 English proficiency exam.
