BA/BS in Mining Engineering is a bachelor's degree in Mining & Oil Engineering programme taught at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada. The programme runs for 4 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 59,284 per year (CAD 12,153 per year for local students).
This bachelor's program in mining engineering at Queen's University's Smith Engineering covers every stage of a mining project, from resource discovery through to bringing a product to market, building on foundational electrical, civil, geological, mechanical, and chemical engineering concepts. Coursework addresses the economic extraction of natural resources alongside social responsibility, environmental protection, energy and climate considerations, and workplace health and safety. In their final year, students complete a thesis in which they design and analyze an underground or open-pit mine, carry out a feasibility study of a process plant, or evaluate mechanical requirements for a mining operation, and can choose an upper-year specialization in mining engineering, mineral processing and environmental engineering, or mine mechanical engineering. An internship placement with industry is available between study terms, and the program includes field trips to operating mines. Teaching is delivered on campus at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. It suits students aiming for careers in the minerals industry and related environmental and technological fields.
