The Master of Finance at Queen's University's Smith School of Business is a professional graduate program delivered in Toronto for working professionals, combining one weekday evening class per week with class sessions on alternate weekends. Although designed to be completed while working, the program is considered full-time and is completed in 12 months, beginning each year in June. The curriculum covers financial theory and its application to real-world markets, and the program is a CFA Institute Program Partner, maintaining ties with the CFA Society Toronto chapter. The same degree is also offered in a Beijing, China cohort. Admission requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited university, normally at least two years of relevant work experience (exceptional applicants with less experience may be considered), evidence of quantitative proficiency through prior coursework, a satisfactory GMAT or GRE score, or relevant professional experience, and prerequisite knowledge of finance and accounting demonstrated through coursework, CFA Level 1 completion, or professional experience. Applicants whose first language is not English, and whose undergraduate studies were not conducted in English, must demonstrate English language proficiency, which cannot be waived.
