The University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) Master of Engineering (MEng) is a joint, course-based graduate program offered by Queen's University together with McMaster, Waterloo, Western, and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, in partnership with Canadian nuclear power utilities and research and regulatory agencies. The program consists of ten courses, or eight courses plus an industry-sponsored project, covering the science and engineering used in nuclear power. Each course is delivered over four alternate weekends, with about 40 hours of contact time plus 100 hours of coursework, and is formally evaluated through assignments, tests, and exams that become part of the student's university academic record. The MEng is accredited by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (OUCQA). Projects are frequently co-sponsored by the student's employer and a participating university, and courses are taught at graduate level by faculty from the partner institutions.
