Overview
This 32-month diploma program begins with a common first year covering core competencies such as algebra, trigonometry, computer applications, statics, surveying, technical communications, graphics and drafting, chemistry, professional ethics, and safety training. In years two and three, students move into application and design coursework within one of five specializations: Architectural/Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geomatics, Municipal Engineering, or Structural Engineering Technology. The program includes mandatory six-month co-op work terms after the first and second years, and is delivered full-time, laptop-based, at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg. Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 graduation, or final-year enrolment with results due by 15 July for fall entry, including Grade 12 English (40S) and Grade 12 Applied Math or Pre-Calculus Math (40S); applicants 19 or older who have been out of high school for at least a year may qualify as mature students by completing or enrolling in the same courses. Applicants who completed three years of full-time secondary education in Canada, the US, or an ELR-exempt country in English meet the language requirement; others must submit one of RRC Polytech's approved diploma-level assessments: IELTS Academic (overall 6.0, no band below 5.5), CAEL (overall band 60), PTE (overall 54, minimum 50 per skill), Duolingo (115 or above, minimum 95 per section), or TOEFL iBT (4.0 overall, minimum 3.5 per component). A strong background in science, particularly physics, is recommended, and applicants weak in math are advised to complete Mathematics for Technology (MATH-1006 or MATH-1023) before the program starts.
