Overview
Geomatics Technology is a 32-month diploma delivered at Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg. Students begin with the general first year of the Civil Engineering Technology program, an eight-month term starting in September, then enter the Geomatics Technology option for two further six-month terms starting in late October. The program trains geomatics engineering technologists to provide technical support to engineers, architects, scientists, and other professionals, combining land and construction surveying with digital mapping, photogrammetry, cartography, remote sensing, and global navigation satellite systems. Advanced coursework covers roadway design, geomatics computer applications, digital photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems, survey instrument theory, advanced survey computations, astronomy, and control and legal surveys, concluding with an applied technical project in the final year. The program includes two mandatory six-month co-op work terms, one after Year 1 and one after Year 2, and graduates may pursue certification through the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba and related bodies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry to the Geomatics Technology option requires successful completion of the first year of the Civil Engineering Technology program at RRC Polytech, including a minimum letter grade of C in Surveying 2 (CIVL-2026).
