Overview
Game Development - Art is a two-year advanced diploma with a Game Art specialization stream, delivered on campus at the Manitou a bi Bii daziigae, Exchange District Campus in Winnipeg. The program teaches students to create and edit game-ready art assets and game productions within collaborative, team-based studio projects, building a professional portfolio of work. Coursework covers documenting game development objectives, project management practices such as stakeholder communication and production scheduling, and critical thinking and independent learning. The program includes a 12-week Work Integrated Learning term that alternates classroom study with an industry placement, giving students practical workplace experience and industry contacts before graduation. Admission is competitive, based on portfolio evaluation, with a single September intake and an annual application deadline of March 1.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires proof of graduation from, or current enrolment in the final year of, a post-secondary digital media design program or equivalent, with official final grades due by 15 July if applying while still enrolled; post-secondary transcripts must be issued within six months of the application date. Applicants who completed three years of full-time secondary or post-secondary education in Canada, the US, or an ELR-exempt country in English meet the language requirement; others must submit one of RRC Polytech's approved certificate-level assessments: IELTS Academic (overall 6.0, no band below 5.5), CAEL (overall band 60), PTE (overall 54, minimum 50 per skill), Duolingo (115 or above, minimum 95 per section), or TOEFL iBT (4.0 overall, minimum 3.5 per component). A portfolio of artwork is required but is not due at the time of application; the College requests it at a later date. This is a competitive admission program: portfolios are scored, and only the highest-ranked applicants are offered seats, with an annual application deadline of March 1.
