At Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Canada, Bachelor of Science Construction Project Management is offered as a bachelor's degree in Construction Management programme. The programme runs for 4 years, delivered on campus. It carries 123.0 credits. Tuition for international students is CAD 748 per credit (CAD 254 per credit for local students).
This four-year bachelor's degree, delivered in person at SAIT's Main Campus through the School of Construction, is described as Canada's only undergraduate science degree focused specifically on construction project management. The curriculum blends construction technology fundamentals with project management practice, covering project planning, scheduling, and cost forecasting; materials science and construction methods; soil behaviour, foundation design, and building systems; and construction codes, standards, and regulatory compliance. Students also study more advanced management practices specific to the construction sector, alongside communication and problem-solving skills. The program requires a 15-week internship under industry supervision, with documentation of the placement, plus a capstone project addressing a real management challenge from the construction sector, giving the degree two distinct forms of work-integrated learning before graduation. It carries accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, a credential the program states SAIT was the first in Alberta to achieve. The standard length is four years, with up to ten academic years permitted to finish. The degree suits students who are directive, methodical, and social, with strengths in leadership, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and budget oversight. Graduates are prepared for roles spanning site management through executive positions, and the program supports further graduate study in construction, project management, engineering, or an MBA. It accepts international students and is Post-Graduation Work Permit eligible.
