The Early Childhood Education certificate is a one-year, full-time program at SAIT delivered in-person at Main Campus, with up to five academic years permitted to complete certificate requirements. The curriculum prepares students to work in early childhood education settings caring for children from newborn to age 12, combining classroom instruction with hands-on, community-based experience. Students complete two practicum work placements that combine professional observation, practical experience, and integrated theory classes in early childhood settings. Students are encouraged to refer to Alberta's ALIS website for information on occupational requirements in the early childhood education field. On completion, graduates receive a SAIT Early Childhood Education certificate, preparing them for entry-level roles in child care and early learning settings. The program develops observation, communication, and program-planning skills used in daycare, preschool, and out-of-school-care settings.
