Overview
The Web Developer certificate program covers the design and construction of user-friendly websites and web services. Coursework spans website design and layout, user navigation, social media integration, multimedia elements, e-commerce integration, web analytics, and design tools and techniques. The program runs over two 15-week semesters: one semester of full-time coursework followed by an eight-week practicum placement with a participating corporation or business, giving students applied, real-world development experience. It requires a significant time commitment throughout its 23-week length. Delivery is blended, combining in-person classes at the Main Campus with online coursework. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in web development, including building and maintaining client and corporate websites. The program is offered by SAIT's School for Advanced Digital Technology and does not accept international applicants.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants educated in Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and complete one of the following: at least 60% in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2, or a minimum of two years of post-secondary education from a recognized university, institute or college. SAIT accepts equivalent high school courses for applicants educated outside Alberta. Applicants educated outside Canada must demonstrate English language proficiency and provide an international document assessment confirming they meet the program's admission requirements.
