Overview

This four-year apprenticeship trains students to cut and install glass and aluminum systems for commercial, residential and automotive applications, including measuring openings, marking and cutting glass, weatherproofing joints, and installing prefabricated glass units such as revolving doors and storefronts. Each of the four 12-month periods includes a minimum of 1,620 hours of on-the-job training and six weeks of classroom instruction. Training is delivered in person at SAIT's Main Campus using a blended format that combines on-campus and online coursework, though lab work remains on campus. This is a Red Seal endorsed trade. Graduates receive a diploma in addition to journeyperson status through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training. This program does not accept international applicants. Applicants apply through Alberta's apprenticeship system after meeting the Alberta residency, citizenship, and education requirements for the trade.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of or primarily work in the province of Alberta, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and meet the education requirements for the training program of choice. This program does not accept international applicants.
