Trades - Apprenticeship in Ironworker

This apprenticeship trains students to fabricate, construct and join scaffolding, structural steel buildings, bridges, ornamental ironwork and pre-cast structures. Three specializations are available: Metal Building Systems Erector and Reinforcing, each a two-year apprenticeship, and Structural/Ornamental, a three-year apprenticeship. Training is delivered in person at SAIT's Point Trotter Campus within the School of Manufacturing & Automation. Graduates receive journeyperson designation through Alberta's Apprenticeship and Industry Training. This program does not accept international applicants. Applicants must be a resident of or primarily work in Alberta, hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, and meet the education requirements for their chosen specialization before registering with Alberta's apprenticeship system. Journeypersons in this trade fabricate and erect steel and ironwork components on construction sites ranging from buildings to bridges.
