Overview
This three-year, 76-week diploma prepares graduates to work across every stage of building design and construction, from initial concept drawings through building code compliance to interior space planning. Delivered over five academic semesters combined with three four-month paid cooperative education work terms, the program lets students choose between two concentration areas: Building Sciences and Interior Design. Coursework builds technical drafting, building systems, and project documentation skills alongside a strong grounding in current codes, materials, and construction practice, using industry-standard software throughout the program. The program is delivered on campus at Moose Jaw, with a single intake each September. Graduates are prepared for roles with architectural firms, engineering and construction companies, and government building departments, working as architectural or building technologists, drafters, or design assistants, with the co-op work terms giving them direct industry experience before graduation.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 with a minimum of 70% in Pre-Calculus 30, or a minimum combined average of 70% across Math A30, B30, and C30. Physics 30 is recommended but not required. Applicants must meet Saskatchewan Polytechnic's English Language Requirement. Admission follows the First Qualified/First Admitted process, with a single intake each September; the program is open to international applicants, some of whom may require a valid Saskatchewan driver's licence for co-op placements.
