Overview
Dental Assisting is a 40-week, one-year Certificate offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic at its Regina campus, delivered on-campus through classroom instruction, lab work, practicum placements, and clinical experience, with classes held Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Students develop chair-side assisting skills, intra-oral procedures, business and reception duties, and patient counselling on oral health maintenance. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada, and graduates are eligible to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board exam. The program starts in August. Admission requires Grade 12 with a minimum 70 percent in Biology 30, 30-level English Language Arts, and the highest grade in a required math course, along with an English language proficiency requirement, current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C with AED, WHMIS GHS certification, a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, and immunization compliance. International applicants are not currently considered for admission to this program.
