This diploma is the only Health Information Management program in Saskatchewan accredited by the Canadian Health Information Management Association. Coursework covers data collection and coding, electronic health information management, information privacy, security and confidentiality, interpretation and analysis of health data, access to and protection of health information, and records and systems management. The program totals 71 weeks (120 credits, 1,805 hours). Full-time study is delivered as roughly 60% on-campus and 40% online instruction over two years with a September intake; a part-time online option allows the same content to be completed over three to five years, with students able to begin general courses in any term before joining core HIM studies in September. Graduates are prepared for health information management roles coding, managing and safeguarding patient health records across hospitals, clinics and other health care and health data organizations.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 with a minimum overall average of 70% across a 30-level English Language Arts course, Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30, and one 30-level science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics), plus a minimum keyboarding speed of 25 net words per minute at 90% accuracy, evidenced by a 5-minute testing report submitted with transcripts. The program carries its own, higher English Language Requirement rather than the institution-wide minimum: IELTS Academic overall Band 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or TOEFL iBT overall minimum of 98. A Criminal Record Check and WHMIS 2015 Globally Harmonized System certification are both required upon admission. Admission is First Qualified/First Admitted, with applications opening September 1 annually for the September intake.
