Education Assistant and Community Support Worker Certificate

Admission Requirements: Beyond Selkirk College's general admission requirements, high school graduation or equivalent is expected, though mature students are welcome, and applicants need English Studies 12 or equivalent at a minimum of 60%; no IELTS, TOEFL or other formal test score is published. A complete file needs two personal reference forms, a 30-hour work-experience form completed by a supervisor who has observed the applicant in paid or volunteer work, a current resumé, and a personal statement of interest of no more than 250 words. Because field placement is a required part of the program, applicants must also provide proof of a negative tuberculosis test or a chest X-ray less than six months old where a community partner requests it, and a Ministry of Justice criminal record check completed within 90 days of the program start; some criminal records may limit or prevent placement and therefore progression. Admitted students attend a mandatory orientation, and international students must take enough in-person theory courses to meet the 50% in-person delivery threshold their study permit requires. The program runs a single Fall intake.
