Requirements
Admission Requirements: This is Selkirk College's own English Language Program, so it explicitly is not subject to the college's general admission requirements: the page states 'no academic requirements for English Language' and no high-school transcript is required, and no external English-test score (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) is asked for since the course itself teaches English. The program is intended for adults 18 years of age or over, though 16- or 17-year-olds may be considered in some circumstances. On arrival, students are interviewed, tested and placed into the appropriate level, with progress tracked by ongoing assessment. Applicants must submit a completed application form at least two months in advance together with any available transcripts; international students on a study permit must also hold a current student visa, provide evidence of medical insurance coverage, and pay fees in full each semester, and must study full-time under visa conditions (part-time study is open only to Canadian students). Students must maintain a minimum of 60% at each level to progress, and must complete the Advanced 5 level plus ENGL 60 or EASL 067 before being considered to meet Selkirk's general college entrance requirements for regular programming.
