Multi-Process Alloy Welding (MPAW) Certificate

Admission Requirements: Admission is restricted to indentured, IP-certified welders who have graduated from a BC senior secondary school or equivalent and have prior welding experience; no additional academic grades, minimum GPA, or English-language test score are published, since applicants are already certified tradespeople. The program is physically demanding: applicants should have good mobility and lifting ability, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance, and be able to work at heights and in adverse weather. Students must supply some hand tools, safety boots and leather wear, purchase module texts at an estimated cost of about $600, and pay a refundable $100 tool deposit at the start of the program. A minimum 70% average must be maintained to receive the MPAW credential, which Skilled Trades BC affixes to the welder's existing Certificate of Qualification after a standardized exam and 5,400 hours of field experience (900 of them post-program).
