BA/BS in Professional Practices

The Professional Practices certificate at Simon Fraser University is designed for teachers who are new to Canada or previously credentialed Canadian teachers who want to upgrade their skills to current practice. Students gain contextual perspectives on teaching in British Columbia, become familiar with contemporary school practices, and develop practical skills aligned with the Teacher Regulation Branch's standards. Entry to the certificate requires admission to the Professional Qualification Program teacher-education module. On top of that module, the certificate requires an additional three upper-division EDUC courses (12 units). At least half of the certificate's total units, and at least two-thirds of its upper-division units, must be completed through study at Simon Fraser University. The certificate is offered through the Faculty of Education and is intended specifically for internationally or previously trained teachers seeking BC certification.
