Environmental Literacy Certificate

Admission Requirements: The Environmental Literacy certificate page states no separate admission test, minimum average, or GPA threshold; it notes only that students are responsible for meeting the individual prerequisite requirements of each course counted toward the certificate, some of which require 45 completed units or specific prior courses. As with SFU's other declared certificates, entry depends on prior admission to the university rather than a distinct certificate-level gate. Canadian secondary applicants must otherwise meet SFU's general undergraduate requirements: at least five approved Grade 12 courses including English Studies 12 or equivalent, with 70% or better in Language Arts 11, English 12, or equivalent. English-language proficiency follows SFU's general scale, e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall with no section below 4.0 (tests from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 65 overall, or Duolingo 125 overall.
