This 30-credit certificate provides training in environmental science, offered at the Montreal campus on a full-time or part-time basis with fall and winter admission. Five mandatory courses (15 credits) cover ecology, chemistry, human-environment relations, environmental risks, and environmental law, giving students a common grounding across the scientific, social, and regulatory dimensions of environmental issues. Students then choose five elective courses (15 credits) from a range of environmental specializations, including biodiversity, water resources, industrial environments, and atmospheric science, letting them orient the certificate toward a particular environmental domain of interest. The combination of mandatory breadth and elective specialization is designed to give graduates both a general environmental-science literacy and some depth in a chosen area. The program suits candidates seeking a broad scientific foundation in environmental issues, whether as preparation for further study or as applied training for work in environmental management, monitoring, or policy.
