Program details

Overview

The Project Management Certificate is a part-time online program of eight three-week courses aligned with the PMBOK Guide (8th edition), covering the project lifecycle from initiation to completion along with Agile methods and AI-enabled tools. Weekly live evening classes support roughly 6-10 hours of study per week, and the certificate can be completed in four to 24 months. It suits professionals pursuing Project Management Institute credentials or managing projects in IT, construction, healthcare and other sectors.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission follows SFU Continuing Studies' standard certificate requirements rather than a programme-specific academic prerequisite. Applicants need Grade 12 or its equivalent; mature students who do not meet this standard may instead qualify with at least five years of appropriate experience. The programme's stated English Language Recommendation is an IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.5, set on SFU Continuing Studies' policies page. There is no formal application deadline: applicants may register for individual courses first and apply to the certificate at any time, and a non-refundable $99 program application fee applies when the formal application is submitted.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC, with one set of dates per applicant type rather than by citizenship. Fall 2027 entry: high-school-route applications open 1 October 2026 and close 31 January 2027, while transfer applications open 1 March 2027 and close 15 April 2027 (Education and Contemporary Arts transfer applicants may apply from 1 October 2026). Spring 2027 entry runs 1 July to 15 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry runs 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027. Admission documents are generally due 28 February 2027 (Fall) and offers must be accepted by 1 May. International applicants use the same EducationPlannerBC dates and portal; SFU publishes no separate international deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
