Applicants whose first language is not English, and who are not from an English-exempt country, must meet the university's English proficiency requirement, set out on The University of Winnipeg's own admission requirements page: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall; TOEFL iBT 4.5 overall with no component below 4.0 for tests taken on or after January 21, 2026 (86 overall with no component below 20 for tests taken before that date); Duolingo English Test 120; Pearson PTE Academic 58; CAEL 60 (CAEL online 70); LanguageCert Academic 67; or Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency 180, with results no more than two years old. International applicants apply online through the university's application portal and pay a non-refundable CAD $120 application fee, with official transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution to the Admissions Office; recommended international deadlines are June 15 for Fall (September), October 15 for Winter (January), and February 15 for Spring (May), and applying three to four months ahead is encouraged to allow time for study-permit processing.
