Overview

Mathematical Physics is a Bachelor of Science (Honours) program at Trent University that integrates the central theoretical frameworks of physics with the mathematical methods that underpin them. Physics is treated as the most fundamental of the natural sciences, with mathematics presented as its language, and the curriculum is built so the two disciplines develop together rather than being taught as separate streams. The Honours program is delivered jointly by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and the Department of Physics & Astronomy, and it is structured as a single integrated sequence of courses rather than a set of independent electives. Students draw on course offerings from Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science as they progress through the program. Graduates leave with a combined grounding in theoretical physics and its mathematical foundations, positioning them for further graduate study or for careers that require strong quantitative and analytical skills alongside physical-science knowledge.
