The Baccalaureats 4 ans pathway groups four-year bachelor's degree programmes for students whose pre-university education was completed outside Quebec on a diploma not equivalent to the Quebec DEC. More than 30 disciplines are available across three tracks: natural and formal sciences, human and social sciences, and arts and letters. The first year consists of 24 credits of preparatory coursework, combined with 0 to 6 credits of French-language courses depending on the applicant's existing proficiency, before students move into three years of discipline-specific study alongside students admitted directly into that discipline. A single application covers entry to the pathway, and the restricted-enrolment (contingentement) process used for some direct-entry programmes does not apply to admission through this pathway. On completion of the preparatory year, students continue their chosen discipline alongside classmates admitted directly into that discipline, working toward the same degree requirements.
