This 30-credit certificate introduces the fundamentals of applied economics. Two required courses cover introductory macroeconomics and microeconomics; optional courses drawn mainly from the economics curriculum (covering topics such as economic history, behavioural economics, macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis, econometrics, international trade, and monetary economics) allow students to broaden their training, with a smaller allowance for electives from the School of Management or elsewhere in the University. The program helps students understand different approaches within economics, acquire the basics of applied economics to explain current economic issues, update their training as economists or managers through continuing education, and build initial economics knowledge that can lead into the bachelor's program in economics. It is offered part-time only, with admission in the fall and winter terms, at the Sherbrooke campus.
