Overview
The Certificate in Applied Communication is a 30-credit undergraduate certificate at Universite de Sherbrooke, with 9 credits of required courses and 15 to 21 credits of optional courses. It covers the main fields of communication practice, developing students' ability to write different types of texts to given content and format requirements, revise texts for clarity and effectiveness using common reference tools, and use computer tools to process, format and distribute information. Courses are delivered on the university's main Sherbrooke campus, with admission for the fall and winter terms on a full-time or part-time basis. The certificate can stand alone as a continuing-education credential or be combined with other certificates or a major toward a bachelor's degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet Universite de Sherbrooke's general admission requirements for first-cycle programs and demonstrate a strong command of French, sufficient to understand, speak and write clearly in a structured way. Candidates must provide proof of a minimum level of French proficiency, either through an exemption or by achieving level C2 (a score of at least 600 out of 699 across listening, reading, speaking and writing) on a French-language test recognized by the university. Students found to have linguistic weaknesses in French during the program may be required to complete remedial French course(s), which do not count toward the certificate. Admission is offered for the fall and winter terms, full-time or part-time.
