The Baccalauréat en économique is a 90-credit bachelor's degree at Université de Sherbrooke's École de gestion, leading to the degree of Bachelière or bachelier ès sciences. The programme gives students a fundamental and applied grounding in economics, preparing them to work as economists across professional settings or to pursue graduate studies. Students build practical and critical skills in analyzing, observing, and interpreting economic data, gain a broad view of human, social, and individual problems in their historical and institutional context, and learn to apply economic tools and scientific reasoning to propose solutions to economic problems. The curriculum also supports continuing education habits for keeping an economist's training current, and includes study of a related discipline to broaden understanding of economic issues. The programme is offered under a regular or co-operative (work-study) study regime, full-time, with admission at the Fall and Winter terms at the Sherbrooke main campus, and provides a foundation for graduate study in economics or a related field.
