This Certificate in French Letters and Language is a 30-credit undergraduate program at the Université de Sherbrooke's Département des arts, langues et littératures, offered on a full-time or part-time basis at the Sherbrooke campus. It introduces students to the main disciplines taught in French within the department. The required course, Norme et analyse, requires a grammar placement test; students who do not pass it must first complete an introductory grammar course, which then counts as an elective. Elective courses, worth 24 to 27 credits, are chosen from literary and cultural studies (ELC), applied communication (COM) and first-cycle linguistics (LCR) courses, split between 9 to 15 credits in ELC and 9 to 15 credits in COM or LCR, with up to 3 credits of free choice. As of this listing, admissions to the program are suspended.

Admission Requirements: Admission follows the Université de Sherbrooke's general first-cycle admission condition set out in the Règlement des études. All admitted students must show a very good command of French, either through an exemption or by reaching CEFR level C2 (a score of at least 600 out of 699) across the four fundamental competencies (listening, reading, speaking and writing) on a test recognized by the university. The program is offered on a full-time or part-time basis at the Sherbrooke campus; admissions to the program are currently suspended.
