This program is a research doctorate (Ph.D.) in Immunology at the Universite de Sherbrooke, based on the university's Health Sciences campus in Sherbrooke, with admission in the fall, winter, and summer terms. The 90-credit, full-time curriculum trains its candidates to independently design, carry out, and complete an original research project in immunology, and to critically analyze both their own results and previously published findings from other research groups. A large share of the program is devoted to the general (comprehensive) examination, a research seminar, and the doctoral thesis, which reports original experimental or theoretical work. Students are also expected to communicate their results through seminars, conferences, and original articles, and to work within multidisciplinary teams alongside other researchers, students, and research assistants, occasionally helping supervise junior student researchers. The program prepares graduates for careers as independent immunology researchers in academic, clinical, and other scientific research settings, with an emphasis on rigorous experimental analysis, scientific communication, and collaborative, multidisciplinary teamwork.
