Overview

The Master's in Applied Ethics (Maitrise en ethique appliquee) is a 45-credit, coursework-based graduate program delivered on the Campus de Longueuil. It deepens students' knowledge of applied ethics and develops the competencies needed for sound ethical intervention across professional contexts. The 33-credit core covers an introduction to applied ethics, the sociopolitical context of ethics, decision-making, ethical theories, argumentation and dialogue, an integration activity, directed readings, a research seminar and a 9-credit essay. Students choose 9 to 12 elective credits from courses such as public-health ethics, professional ethics, ethics and law, ethics of economic activity, ethical intervention, environmental governance ethics and a micro-internship in applied ethics, plus up to 3 further elective credits. The program is offered full-time or part-time, with no mandatory coursework in the summer term, and admits students at the fall and winter terms.

Minimum GPA: 3.00 / 4.3

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.3 scale or an equivalent academic record. All admitted students need a good command of French, oral and written, sufficient to understand and express themselves clearly on academic or professional topics; a French-as-a-second-language placement test may be required. Required documents are the bachelor's diploma and transcript, plus transcripts for any other university studies.
