This Certificate in Philosophy is a 30-credit undergraduate program offered at the Universite de Sherbrooke's Departement de philosophie et d'ethique appliquee, on a full-time or part-time basis, with admission in the fall and winter terms at the Sherbrooke campus. It is designed either for students from other disciplines who want to connect philosophical reflection to their own interests, or for students exploring their academic direction who want to become familiar with philosophical inquiry. Nine mandatory credits cover an introduction to philosophy, written argumentation and methodology, and a historical overview of human thought. Twenty-one optional credits are chosen from a wide range of courses spanning applied ethics, bioethics, environmental and political ethics, philosophy of language, art, science, mind and religion, logic, epistemology, medieval, ancient, modern and contemporary (continental and analytic) thought, aesthetics, and philosophy in relation to technology, literature, media, economics and sexuality, among other topics.
